The Story

It was introduced on January 13, 2010 and referred to the Senate Commerce, Labor and Consumer Protection committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 9, 2010. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes. The committee's amendment (1125s) was adopted on a voice vote on March 24, 2010, changing the text of the bill. On March 24, 2010 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House on March 24, 2010 and was referred to the House Commerce and Consumer Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 7, 2010. The committee met in executive session on April 13, 2010 to vote on its recommendation. The committee held a work session on April 14, 2010. The committee met in executive session on April 22, 2010 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 16–0, to recommend that the House pass it, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On May 5, 2010 the House voted to pass it on a voice vote. An enrolled bill amendment (2015) was adopted on May 12, 2010. These correct technical errors found after passage. The bill was enrolled on May 19, 2010 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor — and an enrolled bill amendment (2015) was adopted to correct technical errors found after passage. The governor signed it on June 21, 2010, making it Chapter 188 of the session laws.
