The Story

It was introduced on January 6, 2010 and referred to the Senate Commerce, Labor and Consumer Protection committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 26, 2010. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes. The committee's amendment (0446s) was adopted on a voice vote on February 10, 2010, changing the text of the bill. On February 10, 2010 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House on February 17, 2010 and was referred to the House Commerce and Consumer Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 23, 2010. The committee met in executive session on April 13, 2010 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 18–0, to recommend that the House pass it, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On April 21, 2010 the House voted to pass it on a voice vote. On April 21, 2010 the bill was referred to the Executive Departments and Administration committee. The committee met in executive session on May 4, 2010 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted 16–2 to recommend that the House pass it, and the report was placed on the regular calendar. On May 12, 2010 the House voted to pass it on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on June 2, 2010 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor — and an enrolled bill amendment (2104) was adopted to correct technical errors found after passage. The governor signed it on June 28, 2010, making it Chapter 220 of the session laws.
