The Story
It was introduced on January 6, 2010 and referred to the Senate Public and Municipal Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 11, 2010. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On March 17, 2010 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House on March 18, 2010 and was referred to the House Municipal and County Government committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 31, 2010. The committee met in executive session on April 13, 2010 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 18–0, to recommend that the House pass it, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On April 21, 2010 the House voted to pass it on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on May 5, 2010 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on May 18, 2010, making it Chapter 39 of the session laws.
