The Story
It was introduced on January 8, 2009 and referred to the House Executive Departments and Administration committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 19, 2009. The committee met in executive session on March 3, 2009 to vote on its recommendation. The committee retained the bill, holding it for further work rather than reporting it out this year. The committee held a work session on May 26, 2009. The committee met in executive session on November 19, 2009 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 18–0, to recommend that the House pass it with changes (amendment 2518h). The committee's amendment (2518h) was adopted on a voice vote on January 6, 2010, changing the text of the bill. On January 6, 2010 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on March 24, 2010 and was referred to the Senate Executive Departments and Administration committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 13, 2010. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On April 28, 2010 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. The bill was enrolled on May 12, 2010 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on June 9, 2010, making it Chapter 122 of the session laws.
