  • Term: 2009-2010
  • House committee: Executive Departments and Administration
  • Senate committee: Executive Departments and Administration
  • Subject: Occupational Regulation
  • Chapter law: 249

The Story

It was introduced on January 8, 2009 and referred to the House Executive Departments and Administration committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 5, 2009. The committee held a work session on March 17, 2009. The committee met in executive session on March 18, 2009 to vote on its recommendation. The committee retained the bill, holding it for further work rather than reporting it out this year. The committee held work sessions on May 26, 2009, August 6, 2009, August 18, 2009, September 22, 2009, October 13, 2009 and October 27, 2009. The committee met in executive session on November 19, 2009 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 17–0, to recommend that the House pass it with changes (amendment 2521h). The committee's amendment (2521h) was adopted on a voice vote on January 13, 2010, changing the text of the bill. On January 13, 2010 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. On January 13, 2010 the bill was referred to the Ways and Means committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 28, 2010. The committee met in executive session on February 11, 2010 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted 15–1 to recommend that the House pass it. On March 3, 2010 the House voted to pass it on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on March 24, 2010 and was referred to the Senate Executive Departments and Administration committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 20, 2010. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On May 12, 2010 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. The bill was enrolled on June 2, 2010 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor — and an enrolled bill amendment (2099) was adopted to correct technical errors found after passage. The governor signed it on July 6, 2010, making it Chapter 249 of the session laws.
