The Story
It was introduced on January 6, 2010 and referred to the House Health, Human Services and Elderly Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 2, 2010. The committee met in executive session on February 9, 2010 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 17–0, to recommend that the House pass it. On February 17, 2010 the House voted to pass it on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on March 17, 2010 and was referred to the Senate Health and Human Services committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 23, 2010. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On March 31, 2010 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. The bill was enrolled on April 21, 2010 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor — and an enrolled bill amendment (1243) was adopted to correct technical errors found after passage. The governor signed it on May 19, 2010, making it Chapter 77 of the session laws.
