The Story
It was introduced on January 6, 2010 and referred to the House Election Law committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 2, 2010. The committee met in executive session on February 16, 2010 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 17–0, to recommend that the House pass it with changes (amendment 0733h). The committee's amendment (0733h) was adopted on a voice vote on March 3, 2010, changing the text of the bill. On March 3, 2010 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on March 24, 2010 and was referred to the Senate Election Law and Veterans' Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 20, 2010. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On April 28, 2010 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. The bill was enrolled on May 12, 2010 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on June 21, 2010, making it Chapter 182 of the session laws.
