- Status: Signed into law
- Term: 2009-2010
- House committee: Judiciary
- Senate committee: Public and Municipal Affairs

The Story
It was introduced on January 6, 2010 and referred to the House Judiciary committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 28, 2010. The committee met in executive session on February 9, 2010 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 18–0, to recommend that the House pass it. On March 3, 2010 the House voted to pass it on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on March 24, 2010 and was referred to the Senate Public and Municipal Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 8, 2010. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On May 12, 2010 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. The bill was enrolled on May 19, 2010 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor — and an enrolled bill amendment (2097) was adopted to correct technical errors found after passage. The governor signed it on June 28, 2010, making it Chapter 214 of the session laws.
