The Story

It was introduced on January 6, 2010 and referred to the House Resources, Recreation and Development committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 20, 2010. The committee held a work session on January 27, 2010. The committee met in executive session on January 28, 2010 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 15–0, to recommend that the House pass it (amendment 0424h). The bill was taken off the consent calendar on February 10, 2010. The committee's amendment (0424h) was adopted on a voice vote on February 10, 2010, changing the text of the bill. On February 10, 2010 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on March 24, 2010 and was referred to the Senate Energy, Environment and Economic Development committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 22, 2010. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes. The committee's amendment (1948s) was adopted on a voice vote on May 12, 2010, changing the text of the bill. On May 12, 2010 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. On May 19, 2010 the House adopted “House Non-Concurs with Senate AM and Req Comm of Conf (Rep Spang)” on a voice vote. On May 19, 2010 the Senate adopted “accedes to House Request for Committee of Conference” on a voice vote, on a motion by Sen. Fuller Clark. A committee of conference met on May 24, 2010 and May 26, 2010 to try to settle the differences between the two chambers' versions of the bill. The bill was enrolled on June 2, 2010 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor — and an enrolled bill amendment (2420) was adopted to correct technical errors found after passage. The governor signed it on July 13, 2010, making it Chapter 306 of the session laws.
