The Story

It was introduced on January 6, 2010 and referred to the House State-Federal Relations and Veterans Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 28, 2010. The committee met in executive session on February 4, 2010 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 16–0, to recommend that the House pass it. On February 17, 2010 the House voted to pass it on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on March 24, 2010 and was referred to the Senate Executive Departments and Administration committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 13, 2010. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes. The committee's amendment (1699s) was adopted on a voice vote on May 5, 2010, changing the text of the bill. On May 5, 2010 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. On May 19, 2010 the House adopted “House Concurs with Senate AM #1699s (Rep P.Garrity)” on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on June 2, 2010 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on July 23, 2010, making it Chapter 365 of the session laws.
