The Story
It was introduced on January 6, 2010 and referred to the House State-Federal Relations and Veterans Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 28, 2010. The committee met in executive session on February 11, 2010 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 12–0, to recommend that the House pass it (amendment 0420h). The committee's amendment (0420h) was adopted on a voice vote on March 3, 2010, changing the text of the bill. On March 3, 2010 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on March 24, 2010 and was referred to the Senate Election Law and Veterans' Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 13, 2010. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes. The committee's amendment (1490s) was adopted on a voice vote on April 28, 2010, changing the text of the bill. On April 28, 2010 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. On May 5, 2010 the House adopted “House Concurs with Senate AM 1490s (Rep P.Garrity)” on a voice vote. An enrolled bill amendment (1974) was adopted on May 5, 2010. These correct technical errors found after passage. The bill was enrolled on May 13, 2010 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor — and an enrolled bill amendment (1974) was adopted to correct technical errors found after passage. The governor signed it on June 14, 2010, making it Chapter 147 of the session laws.
