The Story
The committee held a public hearing on January 12, 2010. The committee met in executive session on January 20, 2010 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 17–0, to recommend that the House pass it. On January 27, 2010 the House voted to pass it on a voice vote. It was introduced on March 24, 2010 and referred to the Senate Capital Budget committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 15, 2010. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes. The committee's amendment (1422s) was adopted on a voice vote on April 21, 2010, changing the text of the bill. On April 21, 2010 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. On April 28, 2010 the House adopted “House Non-Concurs, Requests Comm of Conf (Rep Bouchard)” on a roll call 251–81. A committee of conference met on April 30, 2010 to try to settle the differences between the two chambers' versions of the bill. On May 5, 2010 the Senate adopted “Conference Committee Report 1789” on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on May 5, 2010 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor — and an enrolled bill amendment (1968) was adopted to correct technical errors found after passage. The governor signed it on May 13, 2010, making it Chapter 29 of the session laws.
