extending legislative study committees and commissions.

  • Status: Signed into law
  • Term: 2009-2010
  • House committee: Legislative Administration
  • Senate committee: Executive Departments and Administration
  • Subject: Study Committees and Commissions
  • Chapter law: 141

The Story

It was introduced on January 6, 2010 and referred to the House Legislative Administration committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 25, 2010. The committee met in executive session on February 9, 2010 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 16–0, to recommend that the House pass it with changes (amendment 0653h). The bill was taken off the consent calendar on March 3, 2010. The committee's amendment (0653h) was adopted on a voice vote on March 10, 2010, changing the text of the bill. A floor amendment (0860h) was adopted on a voice vote on March 10, 2010, changing the text of the bill. On March 10, 2010 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on March 24, 2010 and was referred to the Senate Executive Departments and Administration committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 13, 2010. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes. The committee's amendment (1371s) was adopted on a voice vote on April 28, 2010, changing the text of the bill. On April 28, 2010 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. On May 5, 2010 the House adopted “House Concurs with Senate AM 1371s (NT) (Rep L.Weber)” on a voice vote. An enrolled bill amendment (2039) was adopted on May 12, 2010. These correct technical errors found after passage. The bill was enrolled on May 19, 2010 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor — and an enrolled bill amendment (2039) was adopted to correct technical errors found after passage. The governor signed it on June 14, 2010, making it Chapter 141 of the session laws.
