The Story

It was introduced on January 6, 2010 and referred to the House Commerce and Consumer Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 7, 2010. The committee held a work session on January 27, 2010. The committee met in executive session on February 4, 2010 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 16–0, to recommend that the House pass it with changes (amendment 0318h). The bill was taken off the consent calendar on February 10, 2010. The committee's amendment (0318h) was adopted on a voice vote on February 10, 2010, changing the text of the bill. On February 10, 2010 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on March 10, 2010 and was referred to the Senate Commerce, Labor and Consumer Protection committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 8, 2010. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On April 14, 2010 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. The bill was enrolled on May 5, 2010 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor — and an enrolled bill amendment (1566) was adopted to correct technical errors found after passage. The governor signed it on May 26, 2010, making it Chapter 101 of the session laws.
