The Story

It was introduced on January 6, 2010 and referred to the House Commerce and Consumer Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 1, 2010. On February 17, 2010 the House voted to pass it on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on March 10, 2010 and was referred to the Senate Commerce, Labor and Consumer Protection committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 23, 2010. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes. The committee's amendment (1156s) was adopted on a voice vote on March 31, 2010, changing the text of the bill. On March 31, 2010 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. On April 14, 2010 the House adopted “House Concurs with Senate Amendment #1156s (Rep Butler)” on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on April 21, 2010 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on May 18, 2010, making it Chapter 54 of the session laws.
