The Story

It was introduced on January 6, 2010 and referred to the House Commerce and Consumer Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 28, 2010. The committee met in executive session on February 4, 2010 and February 11, 2010. The committee voted unanimously, 16–0, to recommend that the House pass it with changes (amendment 0659h). The committee's amendment (0659h) was adopted on a voice vote on March 3, 2010, changing the text of the bill. On March 3, 2010 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on March 17, 2010 and was referred to the Senate Commerce, Labor and Consumer Protection committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 13, 2010. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes. The committee's amendment (1416s) was adopted on a voice vote on April 21, 2010, changing the text of the bill. On April 21, 2010 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. On May 19, 2010 the House adopted “House Concurs with Senate AM #1416s (Rep Butler)” on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on June 2, 2010 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor — and an enrolled bill amendment (2154) was adopted to correct technical errors found after passage. The governor signed it on July 1, 2010, making it Chapter 234 of the session laws.
