HB 1271 (2010)

establishing a task force on work and family.

  • Status: Signed into law
  • Term: 2009-2010
  • House committee: Labor, Industrial and Rehabilitative Services
  • Senate committee: Executive Departments and Administration
  • Subject: Miscellaneous
  • Chapter law: 255

The Story

It was introduced on January 6, 2010 and referred to the House Labor, Industrial and Rehabilitative Services committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 7, 2010. The committee met in executive session on January 28, 2010 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 13–0, to recommend that the House pass it (amendment 0346h). The bill was taken off the consent calendar on February 10, 2010. On February 10, 2010 the House adopted “Special Ordered to Regular Place in Feb 17 Consent Calendar”. The committee's amendment (0346h) was adopted on a voice vote on February 17, 2010, changing the text of the bill. On February 17, 2010 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on March 24, 2010 and was referred to the Senate Executive Departments and Administration committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 13, 2010. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes. The committee's amendment (1372s) was adopted on a voice vote on April 28, 2010, changing the text of the bill. On April 28, 2010 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. On May 19, 2010 the House adopted “House Concurs with Senate AM #1372s (Rep Goley)” on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on June 2, 2010 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor — and an enrolled bill amendment (2287) was adopted to correct technical errors found after passage. The governor signed it on July 6, 2010, making it Chapter 255 of the session laws.
