The Story
It was introduced on January 6, 2010 and referred to the House Municipal and County Government committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 28, 2010. The committee met in executive session on February 4, 2010 and February 16, 2010. The committee voted unanimously, 15–0, to recommend that the House pass it with changes (amendment 0536h). The committee's amendment (0536h) was adopted on a voice vote on March 3, 2010, changing the text of the bill. On March 3, 2010 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on March 24, 2010 and was referred to the Senate Public and Municipal Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 15, 2010. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. A floor amendment (1481s), offered by Sen. Bradley, was adopted on a voice vote on April 21, 2010, changing the text of the bill. On April 21, 2010 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. On May 5, 2010 the House adopted “House Concurs with Senate AM 1481s (NT) (Rep Cooney)” on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on May 13, 2010 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on May 25, 2010, making it Chapter 90 of the session laws.
