The Story

It was introduced on January 8, 2009 and referred to the Senate Energy, Environment and Economic Development committee. The committee held public hearings on January 29, 2009 and February 5, 2009. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes. The committee's amendment (0295s) was adopted on a voice vote on February 18, 2009, changing the text of the bill. On February 18, 2009 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House on March 4, 2009 and was referred to the House Resources, Recreation and Development committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 2, 2009. The committee met in executive session on April 14, 2009 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted 14–3 to recommend that the House pass it with changes (amendment 1327h). The committee's amendment (1327h) was adopted on a voice vote on April 22, 2009, changing the text of the bill. On April 22, 2009 the House voted to pass it with changes on a roll call 260–74. On June 3, 2009 the Senate adopted “Sen. Fuller Clark Concurs with House Amendment {1327h}” on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on June 10, 2009 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor — and an enrolled bill amendment (2095) was adopted to correct technical errors found after passage. The governor signed it on July 16, 2009, making it Chapter 245 of the session laws.
