SB 189 (2009)

relative to decisions of local land use boards.

  • Status: Signed into law
  • Term: 2009-2010
  • House committee: Municipal and County Government
  • Senate committee: Public and Municipal Affairs
  • Subject: Zoning and Planning
  • Chapter law: 266

The Story

It was introduced on February 18, 2009 and referred to the Senate Public and Municipal Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 12, 2009. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On March 18, 2009 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House and was referred to the House Municipal and County Government committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 7, 2009. The committee met in executive session on April 14, 2009 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 15–0, to recommend that the House pass it with changes (amendment 1309h). The committee's amendment (1309h) was adopted on a voice vote on April 22, 2009, changing the text of the bill. On April 22, 2009 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. On June 3, 2009 the Senate adopted “Sen. DeVries Concurs with House Amendment {1309h}” on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on June 10, 2009 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor — and an enrolled bill amendment (2093) was adopted to correct technical errors found after passage. The governor signed it on July 16, 2009, making it Chapter 266 of the session laws.
