The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On April 1, 2009 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. On April 8, 2009 the Senate adopted “Reconsideration” on a voice vote, on a motion by Sen. Hassan. A floor amendment (1280s), offered by Sen. Hassan, was adopted on a voice vote on April 8, 2009, changing the text of the bill. On April 8, 2009 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House on April 9, 2009 and was referred to the House Executive Departments and Administration committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 23, 2009. The committee held a work session on April 29, 2009. The committee met in executive session on May 5, 2009 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 17–0, to recommend that the House kill it. On May 20, 2009 the House voted to kill it on a voice vote.
