- Status: Signed into law
- Term: 2009-2010
- House committee: Labor, Industrial and Rehabilitative Services
- Senate committee: Commerce, Labor and Consumer Protection
- Subject: Employment
- Chapter law: 321
The Story
It was introduced on January 8, 2009 and referred to the Senate Commerce, Labor and Consumer Protection committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 10, 2009. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On February 18, 2009 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House on March 4, 2009 and was referred to the House Labor, Industrial and Rehabilitative Services committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 23, 2009. The committee met in executive session on April 28, 2009 and May 20, 2009. The minority of the committee recommended that the House kill it. The committee's amendment (1741h) was adopted on a voice vote on June 3, 2009, changing the text of the bill. A floor amendment (2060h) was rejected on a roll call 147–221 on June 3, 2009. On June 3, 2009 the House voted to pass it with changes on a roll call 244–125. On June 10, 2009 the Senate adopted “Sen. Hassan Concurs with House Amendment {1741h} {New Title}” on a roll call 14–10. An enrolled bill amendment (2332) was adopted on June 10, 2009. These correct technical errors found after passage. The bill was enrolled on June 24, 2009 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor — and an enrolled bill amendment (2332) was adopted to correct technical errors found after passage. The governor signed it on August 7, 2009, making it Chapter 321 of the session laws.
