HB 680 (2009)

making technical changes in the insurance laws.

  • Status: Signed into law
  • Term: 2009-2010
  • House committee: Commerce and Consumer Affairs
  • Senate committee: Commerce, Labor and Consumer Protection
  • Subject: Insurance
  • Chapter law: 215

The Story

It was introduced on January 8, 2009 and referred to the House Commerce and Consumer Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 17, 2009. The committee held work sessions on March 3, 2009 and March 17, 2009. The committee met in executive session on March 17, 2009 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 17–0, to recommend that the House pass it with changes (amendment 0845h). The committee's amendment (0845h) was adopted on a voice vote on March 24, 2009, changing the text of the bill. On March 24, 2009 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on April 8, 2009 and was referred to the Senate Commerce, Labor and Consumer Protection committee. The committee held a public hearing on May 19, 2009. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes. The committee's amendment (1868s) was adopted on a voice vote on June 3, 2009, changing the text of the bill. On June 3, 2009 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. On June 10, 2009 the House adopted “House Concurs with Senate AM #1868s (Rep Butler)” on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on June 24, 2009 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor — and an enrolled bill amendment (2270) was adopted to correct technical errors found after passage. The governor signed it on July 15, 2009, making it Chapter 215 of the session laws.
