- Status: Signed into law
- Term: 2009-2010
- House committee: Health, Human Services and Elderly Affairs
- Senate committee: Health and Human Services
- Subject: Public and Mental Health
- Chapter law: 213
The Story
It was introduced on January 8, 2009 and referred to the House Health, Human Services and Elderly Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 19, 2009. The committee held work sessions on March 3, 2009, March 5, 2009 and March 9, 2009. The committee met in executive session on March 9, 2009 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 20–0, to recommend that the House pass it with changes (amendment 0683h). The committee's amendment (0683h) was adopted on a voice vote on March 24, 2009, changing the text of the bill. On March 24, 2009 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on April 8, 2009 and was referred to the Senate Health and Human Services committee. The committee held a public hearing on May 12, 2009. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On May 27, 2009 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. The bill was enrolled on June 24, 2009 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor — and an enrolled bill amendment (2070) was adopted to correct technical errors found after passage. The governor signed it on July 15, 2009, making it Chapter 213 of the session laws.
