HB 534 (2009)

relative to the selection of members of zoning boards of adjustment.

  • Term: 2009-2010
  • House committee: Municipal and County Government
  • Senate committee: Public and Municipal Affairs
  • Subject: Zoning and Planning
  • Chapter law: 286

The Story

It was introduced on January 8, 2009 and referred to the House Municipal and County Government committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 5, 2009. The committee met in executive session on February 19, 2009 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 14–0, to recommend that the House pass it. On March 11, 2009 the House voted to pass it on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on March 18, 2009 and was referred to the Senate Public and Municipal Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 23, 2009. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes. The committee's amendment (1958s) was adopted on a voice vote on June 3, 2009, changing the text of the bill. On June 3, 2009 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. On June 10, 2009 the House adopted “House Concurs with Senate Amendment #1958s (Rep Cooney)” on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on June 10, 2009 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on July 29, 2009, making it Chapter 286 of the session laws.
