HB 519 (2009)

relative to supervision of state employees who are related by birth or marriage.

  • Status: Signed into law
  • Term: 2009-2010
  • House committee: Executive Departments and Administration
  • Senate committee: Executive Departments and Administration
  • Subject: Miscellaneous
  • Chapter law: 239

The Story

It was introduced on January 8, 2009 and referred to the House Executive Departments and Administration committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 17, 2009. The committee met in executive session on March 3, 2009 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted 15–2 to recommend that the House pass it. On March 11, 2009 the House voted to pass it on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on March 18, 2009 and was referred to the Senate Executive Departments and Administration committee. The committee held a public hearing on May 12, 2009. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes. The committee's amendment (1886s) was adopted on a voice vote on June 3, 2009, changing the text of the bill. On June 3, 2009 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. On June 10, 2009 the House adopted “House Concurs with Senate AM #1886s (Rep Irwin)” on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on June 24, 2009 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor — and an enrolled bill amendment (2164) was adopted to correct technical errors found after passage. The governor signed it on July 16, 2009, making it Chapter 239 of the session laws.
