  • Term: 2009-2010
  • House committee: Executive Departments and Administration
  • Senate committee: Executive Departments and Administration

  • Chapter law: 162

The Story

It was introduced on January 8, 2009 and referred to the House Executive Departments and Administration committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 17, 2009. The committee met in executive session on March 3, 2009 and March 12, 2009. The committee voted unanimously, 16–0, to recommend that the House pass it with changes (amendment 0516h). The committee's amendment (0516h) was adopted on a voice vote on March 24, 2009, changing the text of the bill. On March 24, 2009 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on April 8, 2009 and was referred to the Senate Executive Departments and Administration committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 21, 2009. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On May 13, 2009 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. An enrolled bill amendment (1708) was adopted on May 20, 2009. These correct technical errors found after passage. The bill was enrolled on June 3, 2009 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor — and an enrolled bill amendment (1708) was adopted to correct technical errors found after passage. The governor signed it on July 8, 2009, making it Chapter 162 of the session laws.
