The Story
It was introduced on January 8, 2009 and referred to the House Executive Departments and Administration committee. The committee held public hearings on January 29, 2009 and February 10, 2009. The committee met in executive session on February 17, 2009 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 18–0, to recommend that the House pass it with changes (amendment 0249h). The committee's amendment (0249h) was adopted on a voice vote on March 4, 2009, changing the text of the bill. On March 4, 2009 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on March 18, 2009 and was referred to the Senate Executive Departments and Administration committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 28, 2009. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes. The committee's amendment (1573s) was adopted on a voice vote on May 20, 2009, changing the text of the bill. On May 20, 2009 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. On June 3, 2009 the House adopted “House Concurs with Senate Amendment #1573s (Rep Irwin)” on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on June 10, 2009 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor — and an enrolled bill amendment (2097) was adopted to correct technical errors found after passage. The governor signed it on July 8, 2009, making it Chapter 155 of the session laws.
