The Story
It was introduced on January 8, 2009 and referred to the House Executive Departments and Administration committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 27, 2009. The committee met in executive session on March 3, 2009 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 18–0, to recommend that the House pass it with changes (amendment 0185h). The committee's amendment (0185h) was adopted on a voice vote on March 11, 2009, changing the text of the bill. On March 11, 2009 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on March 18, 2009 and was referred to the Senate Executive Departments and Administration committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 14, 2009. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On May 20, 2009 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. The bill was enrolled on June 3, 2009 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on July 31, 2009, making it Chapter 300 of the session laws.
