The Story
It was introduced on January 7, 2009 and referred to the House Local and Regulated Revenues committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 29, 2009. The committee met in executive session on March 12, 2009 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 16–0, to recommend that the House pass it with changes (amendment 0041h). The committee's amendment (0041h) was adopted on a voice vote on March 24, 2009, changing the text of the bill. On March 24, 2009 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on April 8, 2009 and was referred to the Senate Executive Departments and Administration committee. The committee held a public hearing on May 19, 2009. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. A floor amendment (1911s), offered by Sen. Odell, was adopted on a voice vote on May 27, 2009, changing the text of the bill. On May 27, 2009 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. On June 10, 2009 the House adopted “House Concurs with Senate Amendment #1911s (New Title) (Rep Walz)” on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on June 24, 2009 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor — and an enrolled bill amendment (2163) was adopted to correct technical errors found after passage. The governor signed it on July 16, 2009, making it Chapter 228 of the session laws.
