The Story
It was introduced on January 7, 2009 and referred to the House Executive Departments and Administration committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 27, 2009. The committee met in executive session on February 4, 2009 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 18–0, to recommend that the House pass it. On February 12, 2009 the House voted to pass it on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on March 18, 2009 and was referred to the Senate Executive Departments and Administration committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 14, 2009. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes. The committee's amendment (1334s) was adopted on a voice vote on April 22, 2009, changing the text of the bill. On April 22, 2009 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. On May 6, 2009 the House adopted “House Concurs with Senate Amendment #1334s (Rep Irwin)” on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on May 13, 2009 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on June 9, 2009, making it Chapter 72 of the session laws.
