allowing counties to share correctional facilities.

  • Status: Killed
  • Term: 2007-2008
  • House committee: Municipal and County Government
  • Senate committee: Public and Municipal Affairs
  • Subject: Miscellaneous

The Story

It was introduced on January 4, 2007 and referred to the Senate Public and Municipal Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 6, 2007. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. A floor amendment (0714), offered by Sen. Burling, was adopted on a voice vote on March 15, 2007, changing the text of the bill. On March 15, 2007 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote, then referred it on to the Senate Finance committee. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On April 5, 2007 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House on April 11, 2007 and was referred to the House Municipal and County Government committee. The committee held a public hearing on May 1, 2007. The committee met in executive session on May 2, 2007 to vote on its recommendation. The committee retained the bill, holding it for further work rather than reporting it out this year. The committee held work sessions on June 26, 2007 and September 11, 2007. The committee met in executive session on October 24, 2007 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 15–0, to recommend that the House kill it, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On January 2, 2008 the House voted to kill it on a voice vote.
