HB 291 (2008)

relative to licensure of fireworks sellers.

  • Status: Signed into law
  • Term: 2007-2008
  • House committee: Criminal Justice and Public Safety
  • Senate committee: Executive Departments and Administration
  • Subject: Miscellaneous
  • Chapter law: 17

The Story

It was introduced on January 4, 2007 and referred to the House Criminal Justice and Public Safety committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 13, 2007. The committee held a work session on February 21, 2007. The committee met in executive session on March 20, 2007 to vote on its recommendation. The committee retained the bill, holding it for further work rather than reporting it out this year. The committee held work sessions on April 25, 2007, October 10, 2007 and October 24, 2007. The committee met in executive session on November 1, 2007 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 15–0, to recommend that the House pass it with changes (amendment 2554h), and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The committee's amendment (2554h) was adopted on a voice vote on January 2, 2008, changing the text of the bill. On January 2, 2008 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on February 21, 2008 and was referred to the Senate Executive Departments and Administration committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 12, 2008. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On March 27, 2008 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. The bill was enrolled on April 8, 2008 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on May 12, 2008, making it Chapter 17 of the session laws.
