The Story

It was introduced on January 2, 2008 and referred to the House Election Law committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 22, 2008. The committee's amendment (0538h) was adopted on a voice vote on March 5, 2008, changing the text of the bill. On March 5, 2008 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on March 13, 2008 and was referred to the Senate Election Law and Internal Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 9, 2008. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On April 17, 2008 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. The bill was enrolled on May 1, 2008 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on May 21, 2008, making it Chapter 66 of the session laws.
