The Story
It was introduced on January 2, 2008 and referred to the House Public Works and Highways committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 9, 2008. The committee met in executive session on January 15, 2008 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 12–0, to recommend that the House pass it with changes (amendment 0111h). The committee's amendment (0111h) was adopted on a voice vote on February 6, 2008, changing the text of the bill. On February 6, 2008 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on February 21, 2008 and was referred to the Senate Transportation and Interstate Cooperation committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 26, 2008. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On May 8, 2008 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. An enrolled bill amendment (1926) was adopted on May 15, 2008. These correct technical errors found after passage. The bill was enrolled on May 21, 2008 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor — and an enrolled bill amendment (1926) was adopted to correct technical errors found after passage. The governor signed it on June 16, 2008, making it Chapter 210 of the session laws.
