SB 258 (2007)

relative to reliance on ethics committee advisory opinions.

  • Status: Signed into law
  • Term: 2007-2008
  • House committee: Legislative Administration
  • Senate committee: Election Law and Internal Affairs
  • Subject: Miscellaneous
  • Chapter law: 194

The Story

It was introduced on March 8, 2007 and referred to the Senate Election Law and Internal Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 28, 2007. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On April 5, 2007 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House on April 11, 2007 and was referred to the House Legislative Administration committee. The committee held a public hearing on May 2, 2007. The committee met in executive session on May 23, 2007 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 10–0, to recommend that the House pass it, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On May 31, 2007 the House voted to pass it on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on June 7, 2007 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on June 20, 2007, making it Chapter 194 of the session laws.
