  • Term: 2007-2008
  • House committee: Labor, Industrial and Rehabilitative Services
  • Senate committee: Energy, Environment and Economic Development
  • Subject: Miscellaneous

The Story

It was introduced on February 8, 2007 and referred to the Senate Energy, Environment and Economic Development committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 27, 2007. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes. The committee's amendment (1065) was adopted on a voice vote on April 5, 2007, changing the text of the bill. A floor amendment (1191), offered by Sen. Kenney, was rejected on a roll call 8–16 on April 5, 2007. On April 5, 2007 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House on April 11, 2007 and was referred to the House Labor, Industrial and Rehabilitative Services committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 25, 2007. The committee held work sessions on May 1, 2007, May 2, 2007 and May 8, 2007. The committee met in executive session on May 29, 2007 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 15–0, to recommend that the House pass it with changes, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The committee's amendment (1440h) was adopted on a voice vote on June 6, 2007, changing the text of the bill. On June 6, 2007 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. On June 13, 2007 the Senate adopted “Sen. Fuller Clark Concurs with House Amendment{1440}(New Title)” on a voice vote. An enrolled bill amendment (2150) was adopted on June 13, 2007. These correct technical errors found after passage. The bill was enrolled on June 27, 2007 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor — and an enrolled bill amendment (2150) was adopted to correct technical errors found after passage. The governor signed it on July 20, 2007, making it Chapter 316 of the session laws.
