  • Status: Signed into law
  • Term: 2007-2008
  • House committee: Municipal and County Government
  • Senate committee: Public and Municipal Affairs
  • Subject: Animals
  • Chapter law: 339

The Story

It was introduced on January 4, 2007 and referred to the Senate Public and Municipal Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 20, 2007. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On March 8, 2007 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House on March 28, 2007 and was referred to the House Municipal and County Government committee. The committee held public hearings on April 17, 2007 and May 1, 2007. The committee met in executive session on May 3, 2007 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 13–0, to recommend that the House pass it with changes, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The committee's amendment (1279h) was adopted on a voice vote on May 16, 2007, changing the text of the bill. On May 16, 2007 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. On June 13, 2007 the Senate adopted “Sen. Hassan Concurs with House Amendment{1279}” on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on June 27, 2007 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor — and an enrolled bill amendment (2363) was adopted to correct technical errors found after passage. The governor signed it on July 20, 2007.
