The Story
It was introduced on January 4, 2007 and referred to the House Labor, Industrial and Rehabilitative Services committee. The committee held work sessions on January 25, 2007 and February 1, 2007. The committee met in executive session on February 13, 2007 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted 16–1 to recommend that the House pass it with changes, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The committee's amendment (0030h) was adopted on a voice vote on February 21, 2007, changing the text of the bill. On February 21, 2007 the House voted to pass it on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on March 22, 2007 and was referred to the Senate Commerce, Labor and Consumer Protection committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 3, 2007. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On April 26, 2007 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. The bill was enrolled on May 3, 2007 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on May 14, 2007, making it Chapter 28 of the session laws.
