The Story

It was introduced on January 31, 2007 and referred to the House Executive Departments and Administration committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 12, 2007. The committee met in executive session on March 20, 2007 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 15–0, to recommend that the House pass it with changes, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The committee's amendment (0554h) was adopted on a voice vote on March 27, 2007, changing the text of the bill. On March 27, 2007 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on April 12, 2007 and was referred to the Senate Ways and Means committee. The committee held a public hearing on May 14, 2007. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On May 24, 2007 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. The bill was enrolled on June 14, 2007 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on June 20, 2007, making it Chapter 150 of the session laws.
