The Story

It was introduced on January 31, 2007 and referred to the House Public Works and Highways committee. The committee held public hearings on March 6, 2007 and March 14, 2007. The committee met in executive session on March 15, 2007 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted 11–2 to recommend that the House pass it with changes, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The committee's amendment (0707h) was adopted on a voice vote on March 27, 2007, changing the text of the bill. On March 27, 2007 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on April 12, 2007 and was referred to the Senate Transportation and Interstate Cooperation committee. The committee held a public hearing on May 2, 2007. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes. The committee's amendment (1682) was adopted on a voice vote on May 24, 2007, changing the text of the bill. On May 24, 2007 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. On June 13, 2007 the House adopted “House Concurs with Senate AM #1682s, Rep Bouchard” on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on June 14, 2007 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on July 5, 2007, making it Chapter 286 of the session laws.
