HB 611 (2007)

relative to payment of wages by automated pay card.

  • Status: Signed into law
  • Term: 2007-2008
  • House committee: Labor, Industrial and Rehabilitative Services
  • Senate committee: Commerce, Labor and Consumer Protection
  • Subject: Employment
  • Chapter law: 299

The Story

It was introduced on January 4, 2007 and referred to the House Labor, Industrial and Rehabilitative Services committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 12, 2007. The committee met in executive session on March 20, 2007 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 14–0, to recommend that the House pass it with changes, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The committee's amendment (0809h) was adopted on a voice vote on March 27, 2007, changing the text of the bill. On March 27, 2007 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on April 12, 2007 and was referred to the Senate Commerce, Labor and Consumer Protection committee. The committee held a public hearing on May 8, 2007. The committee's amendment (1556) was adopted on a voice vote on May 17, 2007, changing the text of the bill. On May 17, 2007 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. On June 7, 2007 the House adopted “House Concurs with Senate AM #1556 (New Title), Rep Mears” on a voice vote. An enrolled bill amendment (2230) was adopted on June 13, 2007. These correct technical errors found after passage. The bill was enrolled on June 27, 2007 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor — and an enrolled bill amendment (2230) was adopted to correct technical errors found after passage. The governor signed it on July 20, 2007, making it Chapter 299 of the session laws.
