The Story
It was introduced on January 4, 2007 and referred to the House Executive Departments and Administration committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 6, 2007. The committee met in executive session on March 14, 2007 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted 15–2 to recommend that the House pass it, and the report was placed on the regular calendar. On March 27, 2007 the House voted to pass it on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on April 12, 2007 and was referred to the Senate Executive Departments and Administration committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 25, 2007. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes. The committee's amendment (1353) was adopted on a voice vote on May 3, 2007, changing the text of the bill. On May 3, 2007 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. On May 31, 2007 the House adopted “House Concurred with Senate AM #1353s (New Title), Rep Irwin” on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on June 14, 2007 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on June 20, 2007, making it Chapter 144 of the session laws.
