The Story
It was introduced on January 4, 2007 and referred to the House Health, Human Services and Elderly Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 22, 2007. The committee met in executive session on March 14, 2007 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 18–0, to recommend that the House pass it, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On March 21, 2007 the House voted to pass it on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on March 29, 2007 and was referred to the Senate Health and Human Services committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 17, 2007. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes. The committee's amendment (1420) was adopted on a voice vote on May 10, 2007, changing the text of the bill. On May 10, 2007 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. On May 16, 2007 the House adopted “House Concurs with Senate AM #1420s (New Title), Rep Rosenwald” on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on May 31, 2007 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on June 12, 2007, making it Chapter 90 of the session laws.
