  • Status: Signed into law
  • Term: 2007-2008
  • House committee: Municipal and County Government
  • Senate committee: Public and Municipal Affairs

The Story

It was introduced on January 4, 2007 and referred to the House Municipal and County Government committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 18, 2007. The committee met in executive session on January 24, 2007 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 19–0, to recommend that the House pass it, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. It crossed to the Senate on February 22, 2007 and was referred to the Senate Public and Municipal Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 27, 2007. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On April 5, 2007 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. The bill was enrolled on April 12, 2007 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on April 24, 2007, making it Chapter 2 of the session laws.
