  • Term: 2007-2008

The Story

It was introduced on January 4, 2007 and referred to the House Election Law committee. The committee held public hearings on February 16, 2007 and March 8, 2007. The committee met in executive session on March 14, 2007 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 16–0, to recommend that the House pass it with changes, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The committee's amendment (0629h) was adopted on a voice vote on March 27, 2007, changing the text of the bill. On March 27, 2007 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on April 12, 2007 and was referred to the Senate Election Law and Internal Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on May 9, 2007. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes. On May 31, 2007 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a roll call 15–9 and ordered it to a third reading. On June 7, 2007 the House adopted “House Concurs with Senate AM #1790 (New Title), Rep Weed” on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on June 14, 2007 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on June 26, 2007, making it Chapter 212 of the session laws.
