  • Term: 2007-2008
  • House committee: Election Law
  • Senate committee: Election Law and Internal Affairs
  • Subject: Elections

The Story

It was introduced on January 4, 2007 and referred to the House Election Law committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 13, 2007. The committee met in executive session on March 8, 2007 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 15–0, to recommend that the House pass it, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On March 21, 2007 the House voted to pass it on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on March 22, 2007 and was referred to the Senate Election Law and Internal Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 11, 2007. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On April 18, 2007 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. The bill was enrolled on April 26, 2007 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on May 3, 2007, making it Chapter 15 of the session laws.
