The Story

It was introduced on January 4, 2007 and referred to the House Municipal and County Government committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 30, 2007. The committee met in executive session on February 6, 2007 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 16–0, to recommend that the House pass it, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On February 15, 2007 the House voted to pass it on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on February 22, 2007 and was referred to the Senate Public and Municipal Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 10, 2007. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes. The committee's amendment (1211) was adopted on a voice vote on April 18, 2007, changing the text of the bill. On April 18, 2007 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. On May 2, 2007 the House adopted “House Concur with Senate AM #1211s (New Title), Rep Theberge” on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on May 3, 2007 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on May 22, 2007, making it Chapter 42 of the session laws.
