The Story
It was introduced on January 4, 2007 and referred to the House Public Works and Highways committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 30, 2007. The committee met in executive session on February 13, 2007 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 16–0, to recommend that the House pass it with changes, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The committee's amendment (0207h) was adopted on a voice vote on February 21, 2007, changing the text of the bill. On February 21, 2007 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on March 22, 2007 and was referred to the Senate Transportation and Interstate Cooperation committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 4, 2007. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes. The committee's amendment (1199) was adopted on a voice vote on April 18, 2007, changing the text of the bill. On April 18, 2007 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. On May 2, 2007 the House adopted “House Concur with Senate AM #1199s, Rep Bouchard” on a voice vote. An enrolled bill amendment (1489) was adopted on May 2, 2007. These correct technical errors found after passage. The bill was enrolled on May 17, 2007 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor — and an enrolled bill amendment (1489) was adopted to correct technical errors found after passage. The bill was enrolled on May 18, 2007 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on June 4, 2007, making it Chapter 60 of the session laws.
