The Story
It was introduced on January 4, 2007 and referred to the House Health, Human Services and Elderly Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 1, 2007. The committee held a work session on February 6, 2007. The committee met in executive session on February 13, 2007 to vote on its recommendation. The minority of the committee recommended that the House kill it. The committee's amendment (0137h) was adopted on a voice vote on February 21, 2007, changing the text of the bill. On February 21, 2007 the House voted to pass it on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on March 22, 2007 and was referred to the Senate Health and Human Services committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 10, 2007. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes. The committee's amendment (1977) was adopted on a voice vote on June 7, 2007, changing the text of the bill. A floor amendment (2098), offered by Sen. Estabrook, was adopted on a voice vote on June 7, 2007, changing the text of the bill. On June 7, 2007 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. On June 13, 2007 the House adopted “House Concurs with Senate AM #1977s & #2098s, Rep Rosenwald” on a voice vote. An enrolled bill amendment (2183) was adopted on June 13, 2007. These correct technical errors found after passage. The bill was enrolled on June 27, 2007 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor — and an enrolled bill amendment (2183) was adopted to correct technical errors found after passage. The governor signed it on July 20, 2007, making it Chapter 294 of the session laws.
